About the product
PRIMEON is a compact, vehicle-installed, centrally controlled cable fault location and cable testing system built around Megger's STX 40 platform. It brings together automated operation, integrated safety functions, and a wide range of fault-location methods in one platform, helping operators work faster and with greater confidence on low- and medium-voltage cable networks.
Modern cable fault location in one system
PRIMEON is operated via a single central control unit with a graphical user interface, multi-touch operation, and a single rotary control. Automated switching with software-controlled motorised HV switches supports fault location, testing, and optional diagnostic workflows, while the Linux operating system provides stable operation and resilient restart behaviour.

Designed for safe, flexible field deployment
PRIMEON has been designed for demanding field work, with safety features including F-Ohm earth loop monitoring, F-U touch potential and reference earth monitoring, door contacts, emergency stop functions, safety key switches, and immediate discharging and earthing in the event of power loss. It is compliant with EN 61010, EN 50191, VDE 0104, VDE 0105, and relevant DGUV requirements.
Configurable to match your application
The system can be tailored with optional packages for utility location, enhanced fault conversion, sheath integrity testing, VLF testing, Tan Delta measurement, and partial discharge diagnostics. It is also available in a range of configurations to suit different operational needs, including various vehicle platforms, trailer solutions, and skid-mounted installations, where the system is integrated onto a fixed platform for transport and deployment. Optional generator and battery power kit packages further expand where and how the system can be used, including applications where direct mains access is limited. With the optional battery power kit, PRIMEON can also support extended field work away from direct mains supply, with charging options including solar input, generator supply, and vehicle alternator charging.
PRIMEON comes with an in-built radar of the Teleflex RDR type for time domain reflectometry (TDR). Furthermore, it comes with with an insulation testing unit, a very powerful high voltage DC source, a multi-stage surge wave generator (thumper) for pinpointing with the digiPHONE+2, a high frequency burner for fault conversion, and a set of industry-standard radar-based and transient prelocation methods. Everything is operated from one central control unit that runs the graphic user interface.
