Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Battery gradually gains market acceptance as the replacement for lead acid and nickel cadmium battery because of its low cost, non-toxicity, high abundance of iron, its excellent thermal stability, safety characteristics, good electrochemical performance and high specific capacity.

LiFePO4 cells design has positive electrode of LiFePO4 and negative electrode of carbon with nominal voltage of 3.2V. The cells are not toxic and do not incinerate or explode under extreme conditions. In addition, they have higher discharge current and much higher cycle life.

Main features of LiFePO4 battery are as below :

  • Fast recharged to 95% in just 2 hours (0.5C charging current)
  • For high loading applications, high discharge of 5C~10C is possible
  • No memory effect, battery can be recharged at any depth without fading capacity effect
  • Battery can be deep discharged compare to lead acid battery of only 80%
  • High cycle life with over 2800 cycles at 80% DoD
  • High safety; The positive electrodes of LiFePO4 are non flammable when expose to high temperature, safe for high discharge, it is safe even without temperature monitoring
